Sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission of Liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and
the Federation Council of the
Russian Federation was launched at The Verkhovna Rada
on Monday.
In the beginning of the meeting, V. Lytvyn stated,"Active and efficient work of the Commission is being renewed." He attaches great importance to the present meeting, since "it overcomes a negative and alarming tendency that might have been observed during a three-year delay in the work of the Commission." According to V. Lytvyn, "it was a formal period in the relations between Russia and Ukraine that should never be repeated, as there is no sense and use in it." He also stressed that renewal of the Commission proved that both Parliaments needed internationalization of life, in particular, in the economic sphere. "We need fruitful cooperation, since it would greatly depend on the legislative bodies: political agreements should be a basis for the future laws", the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stated.
V. Lytvyn
announced that the agenda of
the sitting covered
three essential topics of the Ukrainian-Russian relations; first of all
it is the
economic sphere that requires concerted actions
for the
positive result. Thus, during the
sitting of the IV Ukrainian-Russian Inter-State
Commission in Moscow, the Presidents of
Ukraine and Russia determined the strategic
cooperation plans based on the
ideological building of the modern
society, which was repeated by the
Prime Ministers of both states
at their meeting in October. Fulfillment of the mentioned
tasks requires legislative conditions for such cooperation,
V. Lytvyn is convinced.
He deems necessary to
focus on the coordinated development of the research enterprises,
whose scientific work is, unfortunately, not
in great demand.
V. Lytvyn stated that the Ukrainian Party appreciated development of the social dimension of inter-state relations: it concerns linguistic and historical issues, celebration of the anniversaries and birthdays of the prominent figures, etc. He called for the development of the bilateral cooperation in public health sector, and efficient supervision over the quality of medicines in the territories of Ukraine and Russia.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expects that the work of the inter-parliamentary origination would be effective, while the ongoing discussion would specify the goals and provide their rapid implementation.
In the beginning of the sitting, Sergei Mironov, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation suggested holding the Interregional Forum next year, with the participation of the Ukrainian and Russian Deputies of all levels. He is convinced that this sitting can be held in May-June 2011.
S. Mironov hopes that cooperation between Ukrainian and Russian Parliaments will be strengthened.
