On Wednesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the members of the group on the inter-parliamentary liaison with Ukraine of the National Assembly of the Hungarian Republic.
The Hungarian parliament members stated that the official meetings of V.Lytvyn opened prospects for the bilateral cooperation. Dorkota Lajos, Head of the group on the inter-parliamentary liaison, called for boosting cooperation between the groups of friendship, parliamentary committees and factions.
Members of the groups of friendship called for extending bilateral cooperation in the construction, banking, energy and agricultural sectors. V.Lytvyn believes that cooperation in the livestock sector is also prospective. The Parties also called for developing cross-border cooperation.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated, "Pragmatic actions promote normal cooperation." "The action plan on cooperation between the groups of friendship should be drafted," the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.
V.Lytvyn called for ‘making an inventory´ of the bilateral relations, especially their economic aspect.
Asked about the political situation in Ukraine and the parliamentary elections, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine responded, "Permanent elections impede the state development." "The laws on electoral system are adopted, but the procedure of their implementation is obscure," he stated.
The Hungarian parliament members are willing to share their experience in the harmonization of legislation with the European standards. Ukraine has committed itself to observe the European norms, while Hungary can share respective recommendations. "We can help as the friends and neighbors in the middle of the Schengen Area, so that Ukraine fulfills its obligations as soon as possible," Dorkota Lajos stated.
V.Lytvyn suggested that the Hungarian parliament members discussed introduction of the visa-free regime with the EU countries during the visit to The Verkhovna Rada.
The Parties agreed to harmonize the schedule of visits of the parliament members on all levels.
The Hungarian parliament members also initiated holding an unofficial football match between the teams of Ukrainian and Hungarian deputies. V.Lytvyn supported this idea. The Head of the Parliament informed that he had presented a football with the EURO-2010 logo to L.Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary.
