Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared, commenting upon the work of the
Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the sitting of which was
adjourned in Kyiv.
According to A. Martyniuk, Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Head of the Ukrainian part, the bloc of economic issues was of priority during the discussions and reports. It concerned energy cooperation and security, implementation of the social projects in aviation industry, consolidation of the cross-border cooperation, preservation of the cultural heritage, development of education and science.
The Ukrainian politician considers "the discussion of legal tools to settle these issues" as professional and important. He is convinced that the dialogue between Ukrainian and Russian law-makers proved the readiness of both states to the pragmatic cooperation with the account for domestic and common interests.
A. Martyniuk stressed that the participants of the discussion "had been searching for common approaches to strengthen the domestic law of both states to solve the issues under discussion on the supreme inter-state level."
Discussing the results of the 9th Sitting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Liaison between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, A. Martyniuk expressed his hope that Ukrainian-Russian inter-parliamentary cooperation would exist not only in the form of bilateral cooperation, but also as participation in the international alliances of supreme national legislation bodies. The politician admitted that despite all the ideological implications, the stance of the Ukrainian Deputies in the international discussions should be consolidated to protect the state interests of Ukraine.
