Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was conferred the Golden Order of Honor of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies
The Golden Order of Honor of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies was conferred to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by Dr. Chul Park, President of the University, on Thursday in Seoul. He expressed hope that the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament would facilitate the further development of the friendly relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea, namely between the educational establishments of the both states. Mr. Chul Park emphasised that it is for the first time that the Golden Order of Honour is conferred to the foreign citizen though V. Lytvyn is honored due to his great contribution into the development of the bilateral relations between our states.
"Conferring you this Order, we declared that now you are one of us", the President stated.
In this university more than 50 world languages have been studying and in 2009 the Ukrainian culture, language and literature department was open here.
Delivering the speech before the academic board and the students of the University, V. Lytvyn stated that our future belongs to the universities. "Countries, societies and nations would be developed exclusively due to the knowledge and culture since its enables development of innovation technologies. Universities are the best social barometers, showing direction for the politicians, governments and citizens, how we should build dour future."
"I am convinced that universities would be transformed into the centers of the political research, thus their role in solving of numerous problems would be increased. They would be centers to preserve the identity and culture of the nations."
V. Lytvyn expressed hope that Hankuk University is a great example of his words.
In his address to those present, V. Lytvyn stressed that Ukraine knows and honour Hankuk University. "We are ready for the new connections with the Ukrainian universities and would exert our efforts for the Korean students, studying Ukrainian language are able to visit and study in Ukraine, furthermore in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", he stated.
Park Hee-tae, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, greeted V. Lytvyn with the Golden Order in the course of the meeting in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
Asked by the journalists after the completion of the meeting, V. Lytvyn expressed his contentment with the fact that in Hankuk University a department of the Ukrainian culture, language and literature was open. "I am of the opinion it is necessary to understand languages of our states for between understanding of mutual needs and perspectives."
The Speaker of the National Assembly in his turn emphasised that "mastering the languages now is the necessity to continue development between Ukraine and Korea." "Students and all these who travel to their countries from Korea shall have command of foreign languages. I would like all the Ukrainian students and businessmen visiting Korea to have the same opportunities", he stated.
On 5-10 December, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with an official visit in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
