"Mykola Tomenko: It seems that the Officials of the Chernihiv Regions would like to make Prominent Historian Mykola Kostomarov a Party of Regions Member", declared Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine giving comments regarding the situation with the museum-estate of M. Kostomarov in Didivtsi village in Chernihiv region.
On Tuesday during the working visit to Chernihiv region, Mykola Tomenko took part in the meeting of the Didivtsi village residents where they discussed an issue on restoration of the museum-estate.
M. Tomenko reminded that in the moment the works to renovate the building were commenced, the object was in the terrible condition and neither regional nor district authorities make at least something to assist in this case. "The attempts to stop restoration of this object can be explained exclusively by the political reasons: works are the initiative of the public figures and People´s Deputies opposing representatives, thus the local authorities are occupied with the fact good historical initiative is being implemented without assistance of the Party of Regions", the Deputy Chairman explained.
Tomenko emphasised that "taking into he consideration absolute support of our efforts by the village community and community of Chernihiv region we would continue our work without party-political coloring."
