Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met on Tuesday Park Hee-tae, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
V. Lytvyn greeted the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea with the successful conduction of V Summit of The Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (G20) on November 11-12 in Seoul and stated that it proved the global significance of the Republic of Korea in the world.
"Despite the fact it is our first meeting, I am convinced that we would have successful cooperation", the Speaker of the National Assembly declared. V. Lytvyn, in his turn, stated that Ukraine pays special attention to the development of the bilateral relations with Korea.
"our states have common positions regarding principal issues of human relations that proves the necessity to strengthen our relations", the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared and expressed hope that the visit of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation and visit of the Speaker of the National Assembly to Ukraine after his the invitation would facilitate establishment of "strong connections between our parliaments and nations."
Park Hee-tae is of the opinion that despite historical and geographical remoteness of our state, for Ukraine and the Republic of Korea "it is high time for connecting." He expressed the thought that indexes of the common goods turnover do not correspond to the existing potential of our states thus it should be increase.
"Despite the remoteness, we have a lot in common. Dialogue within the political and economic levels is essential for the strengthening of the relations between Ministries, Departments and regions of both states", V. Lytvyn is convinced.
In the course of the meeting, the Parties emphasised the necessity of further development of the cooperation in the economic sphere. According to V. Lytvyn, here the contribution should be made on the part of the friendship groups of our parliaments, analyzing the ways to strengthen the bilateral cooperation and prepare gradual plan of work. "Friendship groups shall stimulate governments of our states for the efficient cooperation. There are great opportunities here, hence we should combine our efforts", he stressed.
According to V. Lytvyn, first of all we should develop the cooperation in the sphere of power engineering, high technologies, machinery construction, aircraft construction, space industry, AIC, environmental sphere etc. Ukraine is interested in the investments of the Korean Republic, furthermore, our state, according to V. Lytvyn, is stable now thus open for the profitable cooperation.
Moreover, V. Lytvyn is convinced that there are a lot of opportunities to develop cooperation in the educational, scientific and cultural spheres.
In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed the involvement of Southern Korean companies into the preparation of Euro-2012 in Ukraine. V. Lytvyn informed that the Ukrainian Government reached the agreements on purchase of high-speed trains of Korean company Hyundai Cooperation that would be used during the conduction of Euro-2012 to connect the cities accepting the football championship.
Speaking on the incident between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea that took part on November 23, 2012, the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed hope that other states would uphold the position of his state within the international level.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that Ukraine is seriously concerned with this situation that forms threats in the Korean peninsula and in Northern-Eastern Asia region. "With deep concern the Ukrainian parliamentarians accepted news on events of November 23. We are convinced that it is necessary to exert efforts to solve the conflict, namely it should be done with the help of the international organizations, the UN namely, though we accept peaceful means to solve the problem. "
On 5-10 December, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with an official visit in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
