The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed Viktor Yanukovych, the President of Ukraine, with the appeal to conduct the discussion regarding the completion of the reconstruction of the Taras Shevchenko Memorial Museum in Kaniv.

 

Mykola Tomenko indicated that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received the appeal of the prominent architects of Ukraine regarding the restoration of the Taras Shevchenko Memorial Museum in Kaniv in its original image, suggested by the eminent Ukrainian architect Vasyl Krychevkii.

 

As it is known, for the basis of restoration works were taken the project of one of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts, author if Big and Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine V. Krychevskii, that envisaged the restoration of the colouring  of Ukrainian traditions in the style and interior of the museum.

 

Though, the Deputy Chairman emphasised that on 28th of May, the Presidium of the Research-Methodological Council pf the Ministry on Culture and Tourism of Ukraine without relevant public discussion and conduction of the open contest passed the decision to alter totally the restoration plans adoption of the modernist concept, thematic structure and sketch project of Taras Shevchenko Memorial Museum in Kaniv, prepared by Creative Architect Studio "L. Skoryk"

 

M. Tomenko emphasised that the decision passed by Creative Architect Studio "L. Skoryk" are contraire to the concept of V. Krychevskii, implemented in restoration propjet and 70% of which has been completed already. "According to the artists, the rapid implementation of the new concept proves interference into the project of Your Administration", the letter reads.
