Adam Martyniuk and Mykola Tomenko, the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, have registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the draft resolution "On Celebration of 140th Anniversary of Prominent Ukrainian Poetess, Public Figure Lesia Ukrainka (Larysa Petrivna Kosach-Kvitka)" (25.02.2011). The draft resolution suggests formation of the organizational committee and adoption of the plans of actions and celebrations.
Co-author of the resolution Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, declared: "Despite the fact on the formal level Lesia Ukrainka, has found great recognition among our people and the world community, her creative activity, view and values she professed, still remain not quite studied and propagandized, thus our idea and aim is to present the world outlook and creative achievements of Lesia Ukrainka not in the light of school education only."
