Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
met with A. Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs of
Finland.
At the beginning of the meeting V. Lytvyn declared that the bilateral relations "are developed within the mode of the trust and partnership" and, according to his words, there are all grounds for the Ukrainian-Finnish cooperation to be transferred to the qualitatively new level. The same concerns their parliamentary part. "I Am convinced that your visit shall facilitate it", the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament declared.
V. Lytvyn emphasised that today, taking into the consideration "decisive intention to reform all the sphere of our live", Ukraine more than ever needs active foreign political dialogue. He emphasised that it is extremely necessary to preserve the achievements in the sphere of democracy and freedom of speech, the authority is supposed to act "strictly, consecutive and what is even more important transparently."
The Parties also paid special
attention to the issue of European integration of Ukraine.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his conviction that the position of Finland regarding the place of Ukraine in Europe "correspond to our moods and intentions."
In his turn, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland stated that Finland "belongs to the team of EU countries that consider themselves as friends of Ukraine" and totally support Ukraine and its steps on the way to the European integration, in particular, in the part of signing of the treaties on association, free trade zone and visa free regime with EU countries.
"Finland is of the opinion that the Ukrainian place in Europe, as from the economic as from the strategy points of view", A. Stubb emphasised. "We hope that Ukraine would continue the way of European integration and one day we will see Ukraine as a new member of European Union."
