In the course of the working visit
to Sumy region on Saturday, Volodymyr Lytvyn,
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,
met the students of the Sumy
State Medical
University who are
volunteers of the Assistance Fund for the Children with Oncological Diseases.
In the course of the meeting they discussed the issues on the support of the medical specialists, development of village medicine and volunteer movement.
V. Lytvyn addressed the students with the words of gratitude for their work and support of lonely people and sick children. He declared: "You have kind hearts, with the place for everyone who needs help, care and support."
The Head of the Parliament believes that adoption of the law on volunteer movement would serve as evidence that such work receives state status and support.
V. Lytvyn announced that he had suggested the amendments to the state budget that allocate extra funds for the treatment of children with oncological diseases abroad at the rate of UAH 87 million. According to him, it is necessary to establish medical institutions to solve the problems of oncological diseases, purchase necessary medical equipment for the regional hospitals lest people should go to Kyiv for qualified medical examination from the remote regions of Ukraine.
The Chairman of the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is
convinced that diagnostic centres should be founded in every region of Ukraine in order
to fight cancer on its early stages. "When we
respect each individual, when we struggle for every life, then people will respect the state they are living
in", he emphasised.
