V.M.Lytvyn greeted the Members of the National Paralympic Team who returned from Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
V.M.Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took part in the greeting ceremony of the Members of the National Paralympic Team who returned from Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, initiated by V. F. Yanukovych, the President of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian team returned from the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games with the 5th total result. The sportsmen won 19 medals 5 gold, 8 silver medals and 6 bronze, by the quantity of medals Ukrainian took 3-4 place.
Volodymyr Lytvyn expressed his admiration for these people, who despite all the disabilities managed to show excellent result during the Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
"I ca not helped being surprised by the fact our Olympic team, that is formed out of healthy people managed to shoe zero result in Vancouver, the Chairman emphasised. "I am thankful to people, who showed the perfect example of heroism and glorified our state", he added.
At the same time V. Lytvyn mentioned the fact that there are more than 3 million people with disabilities and the figure is bigger in comparison with other states. "The most shocking is the fact this figure is increasing and there are a lot of young people with special needs thus we have a big problem for a discussion in our state, - the Head of the Parliament declared. I am thankful to these people, though I wish there were a smaller number of paralympic sportsmen."
