Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced in the Fruitful Cooperation between Viktor Yanukovych, Newly Elected President of Ukraine, and the Parliament
"I appreciate the willingness of the President demonstrated during the today´s meeting", - V.Lytvyn stated on Friday, in the interview to Rada television channel.
According to the Head of the Parliament, after the visit to Brussels, the Head of State shall meet the leaders of the Parliament and heads of the Factions. V.Lytvyn stated that it was agreed to hold such meetings on a regular basis to coordinate standpoints and discuss topical issues. The Chairman stated that "not only the Parliament, but also the Government and the public shall be informed about the common stands to develop practicable resolutions".
"It is crucial to fulfill these commitments", - V.Lytvyn stated.
As far as the relations between the President of Ukraine and the Parliament are concerned, V.Lytvyn is convinced that the Head of State "will not directly demonstrate his willingness to control the Parliament". "I suppose that the complicated socio-economic situation will be the topical matter, as tough and complex decisions shall be made. It is necessary to understand the complexity of the moment and the necessity of adequate actions", - he stressed.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that empty places in the session hall and the Government´s box during the inauguration ceremony did not speak well of the Ukrainian politics and politicians. "I respect the right for political assessment, choice and stand, however, one shall understand responsibility for the country", - V.Lytvyn stated. "Unfortunately, election aggression shifts to our everyday life; we forgot the language of arguments and are not able to listen to each other".
"Such confrontation is groundless. One shall not play around with the State, it is too high a price, when people are considered as political puppets", - he stated.
As far as the prospective meeting of the newly elected President of Ukraine with the Prime Minister is concerned, V.Lytvyn stated: "It is the President´s concern", as this issue was not discussed at the meeting that day. "I believe that they should meet, since Yulia Tymoshenko is the acting Prime Minister; they should clench their teeth and discuss the pressing issues, not the ones of interest for the politicians and public figures", - he stressed.
V.Lytvyn commented upon the situation with the coalition and possible direct influence of the Head of State on the Parliament is this aspect. He stated: "When I express my opinion that the President of Ukraine will not organize the work of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I rely on two arguments: the President has his own authorities as the Head of State, and The Verkhovna Rada includes the Chairman, the Deputy Chairmen and the Factions, which is sufficient to adopt resolutions for the benefit of the people". "Otherwise, activity of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be impossible", - V.Lytvyn stated.
In its turn, The Verkhovna Rada "shall consolidate, adopt necessary resolutions, and exert effective and positive control over the activity of governmental bodies". V.Lytvyn deems necessary to enhance the Parliament´s activity, discipline the Deputies and the Committees and boost the work of the Secretariate.
He calls for amending the Law on The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committees to strengthen the control over the proper realization of the Deputies´ authorities.
