Oleksandr Lavrynovych: Changes in the Organization of Work of the Election Committees prevent Disruption of the Election Process
"Electoral competition and voting returns rules remains unchanged", - Oleksandr Lavrynovych, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared in the course of the television program on TRC "Ukraine", giving comments concerning the adopted by the Parliament amendments to the Law on election of the President of Ukraine concerning the polling site commissions work.
Instead, the politician emphasized that according to the introduced amendments "the situation when the voting returns are not defined is made impossible." O. Lavrynovych rejected the accusation on the part of the Prime Minister concerning lack of democracy in these norms.
According to him, "these norms prevent break down of the election process." The Bill author explained that "if all the commission members from the both candidates come to their working places, they will be working with the strict correspondence to the effective law norms. Adopted amendments will come into force only in such a case when Yulia Volodymyrivna Tymoshenko will try to implement one of her scenarios, that is voting results correction when the voting would be break down on the polling sites in Southern, Eastern and part of the Central Ukraine, where people´s support of Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych exceeds 60%."
O. Lavrynovych also reminded that the effective law on the election of the President of Ukraine was a result of the common work of Party of Regions, Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc and "Our Ukraine". "We have signed the Law lest it remains unaltered. It was elaborated in order the candidates possess the equal opportunities and rules", - the politician briefed.
"In Ukraine one approach is very popular, when election organization is being held by the candidates for the presidency themselves. In the majority of the world countries the elections are organized not by the state power but by the local self-government."
"Without these amendments, if they fail to come into force, we still have the theoretic possibility of the voting and the whole election campaign break down hence the people will not have the opportunity to vote, consequently we will have no result", - O. Lavrynovych resumed.
