"Publishing of Ukrainian books is supposed to be attention point exclusively of the publishing houses and editors who are devotees of their work, Volodymyr Lytvyn declared on Sunday in the course of the book shop visiting in Kyiv. In this sphere the state program should be elaborated and implemented. "
Ukrainian book should be supported by the state, according to V. Lytvyn "as it was done in Russia." "In neighboring countries publishing sphere is an industry and profitable business with enormous income. In Ukraine "patriots" are constantly speaking on the Ukrainian books and receive zero results in this sphere", - the Head of the Parliament declared. He pointed out the attention on the lack of any preferences regarding publishing sphere taxation: "Publishing houses were actually driven underground. Look, please, what is happening with the book shop "Saivo", in Khreshchatyk Street! Memorial of the capital intellectual life is actually being destroyed by the local authorities and no one objects to this crime", - V. Lytvyn proclaimed.
V. Lytvyn deems the situation impropriate when scientific works are published in an edition of 300-500 copies. "Philosophy, International Relations and Political Science, State and Law Institutes publish unique works but the miserable quantity of editions restricts their popularity. These editions can not even be found in the libraries, consequently, the library fund are not being renewed", - he briefed
According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the fact is rather strange that "there have been allocated numerous funds on NATO propaganda but publishing of Ukrainian books is extremely poor."
