At the NATO Summit in Ankara, the West finally found faith in its own strength, with our partners demonstrating true resolve and confidence. russia has been officially recognized as a long-term threat, and €140 billion has been allocated to Ukraine for the 2026–2027 period. This Alliance summit marks a turning point in the russian-Ukrainian war, representing an absolute victory for us on a strategic level.
This was stated by Yehor Cherniev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, and Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
"In Ankara, everything proceeded smoothly and cohesively. russia was recognized as a long-term threat, and Ukraine was allocated €70 billion per year for 2026–2027—all without the prolonged hesitation and disputes seen in previous years. No one, including the United States, spoke any longer of appeasing the aggressor, making concessions, or trying to accommodate putin's position. Europe, which is rapidly rearming and witnessing how we degrade russian energy infrastructure, fears Moscow less and less. The US, disillusioned with russia's capabilities, similarly has no desire to save someone who refuses to be saved," the politician noted.
"Either the kremlin ends the war, or it faces nothing but mounting pressure and escalation. Ukraine, by contrast, has significantly strengthened its position. We are recognized as a security provider in the region—a major regional player. We will be granted licenses to manufacture missiles for Patriot systems, which in the post-war period will serve as a powerful deterrent against anyone thinking of overwhelming us from the air," the MP emphasized.
