Leaders of the Student Self-Government addressed the President of Ukraine with the Appeal to sign the Law that regulates the System of Student Self-Government.
Today, in the course of the briefing in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Leaders of the student self-government represented the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on Higher Education" (re the Student Self-Government) that was adopted by the Parliament yesterday.
Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the one of the authors of the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on Higher Education" (re the Student Self-Government, registration number 1280, introduced for the scrutiny in the year 2007 by M. Tomenko and E. Suslov People´s Deputies), that was adopted today by the Verkhovna Rada, approves its adoption.
He briefed that the Law extends authorities and functions of student self-government bodies, fixes the quota of student representation in the collegiate bodies of higher education establishments, specifies the issues concerning establishment and functioning of the student self-government bodies, forms and areas of their activity.
In particular, M. Tomenko declared that according to the Law, the students self-government bodes receive 10% quota in the academic council of the higher educational establishment hence it facilitates the taking into the consideration the interests of students in the course of the adoption of divergent decisions in the educational institution.
Not less important M.Tomenko deems the fact that the Law strictly defines the authorities of the student self-government bodies.
Mykola Tomenko also emphasized that the active student self-government is possible only under the condition of sufficient financing, consequently it is envisaged by the Law.
In their turn, student self-government representatives emphasized the active participation of Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc team in the project implementation.
The Law authors and student self-government representatives addressed the President of Ukraine with the appeal to sin the Law.
