UAH 20 billion, which constitutes 2% of the GDP, shall be allocated to support the defense capacity of the Armed Forces. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the above-mentioned statement, meeting the military servants on Saturday, within the scope of the working visit to Bila Tserkva town in Kyiv region.
V.Lytvyn appreciates that the issues of army have been raised at least during the election campaign. "The army conditions reflect the social conditions; and the situation is rather complicated", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn stated that Ukraine holds the thirteenth place in the world by the strength of the Armed Forces, while one of the last positions by the army funding. He stated that less than 2 thousand dollars are expended on one military servant in Ukraine, whereas 14 thousand dollars are annually spent for one Polish military servant.
V.Lytvyn deems necessary to approve a State defense doctrine, determining the State policy in this field.
The Head of the Parliament visited the military unit of the land forces dislocated in Bila Tserkva town. V.Lytvyn sent his greetings to the military unit personnel on the occasion of the Land Forces Day of Ukraine, and congratulated the young representatives of the unit on the oath-taking.
He expressed his gratitude to the parents whose children became the Motherland defenders. He expects that the State will take pride in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and young military servants who will cherish the traditions, protecting the country. "We shall exert every effort to fully supply the Armed Forces so that they could fulfill their duty with honour", - V.Lytvyn stated.
