Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the Parliament's Stand concerning the Law on Moratorium on Prices Increase on all the Medicines and Goods of Medical Use is wrong

"Failure of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to override the veto on this Law does not do it credit", - V.Lytvyn stated at the press conference in Lviv, commenting upon the fact that the President´s veto on the said Law had not been overridden.

"The part of the politicians must be on service in the pharmaceutical companies, - V.Lytvyn stated. Nevertheless, such politicians shall be conscientious and understand that they gained  ten-year profits during this epidemic with political hysteria".

The Head of the Parliament sees no grounds "for the recent substantial increase of prices for medicine and medical goods". He believes that "pegging of purchase prices for medicine to the dollar at the rate of one to fifteen" is immoral. "The price includes all the risks", - he stated.

"An obvious conclusion shall be drawn: Ukraine shall be an independent State, supply of domestic medicine and medical goods being one of the criteria of independence", - V.Lytvyn declared. At present, the percentage of domestic medicine totals 20%, despite the fact that even domestic medical goods are produced from imported raw material. "50-70% of medicine shall be produced domestically to be affordable for the majority of people", - he stressed.

V.Lytvyn deems necessary to maintain government regulation of the prices for basic medicine and medical goods, studying the efficiency of work of pharmacy networks in all the forms of ownership.
