Greetings of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
on the Occasion of the Local Self-Government Day
Dear fellow citizens!
Please accept my sincere greetings on the occasion of the State holiday the Local Self-Government Day.
The local self-government is a unity of representative democracy forms and declaration of public will of territorial units. It is a basic principle of the Constitutional order and one of the crucial tenets of authority organization and functioning.
Efficient and fruitful work of the public authority bodies is an indispensable condition of the sustainable socio-economic and cultural development of Ukraine as a European democratic legal State. The local self-government bears special responsibility for the general conditions of the territorial communities, consolidation, peace and welfare of the citizens.
The present-day situation demands further enhancement of the State order, extension of relations between the public authority and local self-government bodies. The citizens shall influence on the adoption of resolutions concerning the whole range of issues.
Realization of the national project "Ukraine from border to border. Local Self-Government" is of crucial importance for the democracy and enhancement of Ukrainian Statehood. It shall state the irrefutable truth: further development of territorial communities, strengthening of the local self-government and regional policy is indispensable for the welfare and prosperity of the villages, townships, districts and regions of Ukraine.
It is the persistence, self-sacrifice, devotion and public consciousness of the local self-government representatives that determine development of Ukraine as a powerful, rich and fair State.
On the occasion of this holiday, I wish you achievements in this responsible public pursuit and all the best.
