The Conference was organized by the Committee on European Integration and the Institute of Political Education jointly with the Ukrainian Community in Poland under the support of the Ministry on Foreign Affairs of Polish Republic Program "Polish Assistance". 

The People´s Deputies of Ukraine, Deputies of Sejm of the Republic of Poland, representatives of the executive power, diplomatic body, political parties, Ukrainian public organizations, Ukrainian and Polish experts on European integration matters attended the conference. 

The participants of the conference discussed the issues on possibilities of Ukraine´s access the European Union and new opportunities and perspectives of cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in European integration aspect. 

Borys Tarasiuk, Chairman of the Committee on European Integration, declared that the basic documents of the European Union testified the fact that Ukraine corresponded to the criteria of EU membership.  

B. Tarasiuk also emphasized that the issue on perspective of Ukraine´s access to the EU depended on the final Treaty on Association, as well as on the development of political situation in Ukraine. "At present, the issue looks rather doubtful as the main countries-participants such as Germany, France and Benelux countries deny the prospect of Ukrainian membership, hence, the conceptual strategic discussion on this topic will be faced in the future", - he mentioned. 

During the sitting, the participants stressed the role of Poland regarding positive attitude towards Ukraine among the EU member-countries. "The stand of Poland is logical, as Poland together with Sweden proved their position through the "Eastern Partnership" initiative", - the participants of the meeting declared. 

B. Tarasiuk also stressed the role of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration Matters that provided participation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the parliamentary dimension of the "Eastern Partnership" policy. 

It was also stressed that there are all the grounds to expect the prospective signing of the Treaty on Association scheduled to be signed in the second half of the next year. 

B. Tarasiuk also stated that the next summit Ukraine-EU would be held in Kyiv next week. The issues on elaboration of a roadmap on vise-free regime for the Ukrainian citizens would be discussed at the summit. 

In was proclaimed that the EU is already an important partner of Ukraine, especially in the safety matters. 

In the end of the meeting, B. Tarasiuk declared that Ukraine´s access European Union was not a utopia, as it was based on the principal resolutions of the Ukrainian Parliament and the EU documents.
