Volodymyr Lytvyn: A Flu Epidemic was turned into a Political One
During the working visit to Crimea, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that Ukrainian politicians shall cease the discussions of flu epidemic, as "they have squeezed everything possible from it for the sake of their election campaign". "A flu epidemic has apparently been turned into a political one", - he stated.
V.Lytvyn stated that the Parliament´s resolution concerning the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget for 2009" with the President´s motions was rather predictable. "There were no grounds for announcing an extraordinary meeting, as preliminary consultations with the representatives of different Factions confirmed the lack of votes for overriding the veto", - he stressed.
However, the Head of the Parliament believes that the initiators of the meeting pursued another goal to demonstrate their concern with the public interests. He believes that it should have been done a lot earlier, "settling topical matters and monitoring the allocated funds".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that due to the necessity of allocating UAH 1 billion for anti-epidemic measures, the President´s motions should have been upheld. Then, the funds would have been envisaged in the budget at the expense of domestic loans. "Otherwise, a dilemma is faced to allocate the funds, or to prove one´s case, - V.Lytvyn underscored. The only conclusion inevitably comes to mind it is the process, not the result, that one needs".
The Head of the Parliament deems necessary to stop the games with the country and understand that life does not end after the elections. "This political campaign costs dear for the people who try to profit from the most precious human health. It is necessary to stop", - he stated.
