Mykola Tomenko: Memorial House of Mykhailo Hrushevsky, the Head of Ukrainian State, is supposed to be subordinated either to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine or the Ministry on Culture
Today, in the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of Mykhailo Hrushevsky, the Head of the Central Council, prominent historian and outstanding cultural figure, Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine invited parliamentary journalists to so-called opening of the history lesson on the past of Ukrainian parliamentarianism that was held in Mykhailo Hrushevsky History-Memorial Museum in Kyiv.
"Mykhailo Hrushevsky is an outstanding personality and historian of the 20th century", - M. Tomenko emphasized. He also declared that this point of view is proclaimed not only by the specialists, historians but Ukrainian citizens as well. Mykola, Tomenko explained that according to the public opinion poll, Mykhailo Hrushevsky is the only political man of 20th century Ukraine whose activity is positively evaluated by the majority of Ukrainian citizens of Ukraine and only 10% negatively evaluate his political activity.
At the same time, Mykola Tomenko stressed that "scientific, public and state activity of the Head of Ukrainian Parliament needs even more respect." He is also convinced that Mykhailo Hrushevsky museum should become in Kyiv the place where people should become more closely familiar with his activity.
Speaking on inadequate attitude of Kyiv administration to house-museum, Mykola Tomenko declared that the memorial house of, the Head of the Central Council and the first President of Ukraine is supposed to be either national institution in the system of Ministry on Science or the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
During the meeting Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine presented the museum with two volumes "Russian-Ukrainian" published in1897-1899 by Kyiv St. Volodymyr University
In the year 2007 People´s Deputies Mykola Tomenko, Andriy Senchenko and Ludmyla Denisova presented the Historical-Memorial Museum with the memorial furniture of Mykhailo Hrushevsky that they managed to buy from the private collector in Bakhchisarai.
