Health and Healthy Lifestyle shall become a Top Priority for Everyone - Volodymyr Lytvyn
Health shall be a top priority for everyone: a healthy person will be successful, - Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the above-mentioned statement after a friendly football match between a local amateur team "Mais" and "Fortuna" team in the city of Cherkasy.
V.Lytvyn stated that he participated in the game "to demonstrate that one can play football even in such an age and such an exhausted condition". The Head of the Parliament stated that he would be happy if at least several boys started to go in for sports after that match.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine gave a deplorable statistical data: every second person is smoking, a third of adolescents before 15 years of age are also smoking, there are almost 500 000 drug addicted in the country. At the same time, there are only 350 swimming pools in Ukraine, the two thirds of them non-functional, out of more than 7 000 pools required. "One should not reproach the children, as they are devoid of possibility of going in for sports", - he remarked.
A friendly match between "Mais" and "Fortuna" was finished with a score of 2 goals to 3 to "Fortuna". V.Lytvyn scored one goal.
The match was held within the scope of the sports holiday dedicated to the Agrarian´s Day celebrated in Cherkasy on Saturday.
During the celebration, a surprise was prepared for the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada: he met Maria Volska, his English language teacher who celebrated the 75th anniversary. In the course of a warm conversation, they recollected the schooldays of Volodymyr Lytvyn.
