Ukraine and the Swiss Confederation are fully eligible to conduct Bilateral Relations at the Higher Level, - V.Lytvyn
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made the above-mentioned statement meeting Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Council of States.
V.Lytvyn commented upon "the high level of bilateral cooperation" in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. He expects that the visit of the President of the Swiss Council of States "will ensure higher quality of cooperation".
In his turn, the President of the Swiss Council of States highly appreciated the success of Ukraine in the implementation of democratic reforms and called for boosting and developing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
A.Berset invited V.Lytvyn to make a visit to Switzerland as a head of the parliamentary delegation. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine accepted the invitation, suggesting that the date of the visit be fixed after the presidential campaign in Ukraine.
"Inter-parliamentary cooperation will strengthen political and economic relations", - stated V.Lytvyn.
The Parties also deem necessary to extend cooperation in the international parliamentary organizations.
The President of the Swiss Council of States and the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also deem necessary to boost cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural fields. V.Lytvyn believes that development of interaction in these fields "will naturally supplement our trade-economic cooperation".
The Parties also dwelled upon the holding of EURO-2012 Football Championship in Ukraine. A.Berset hopes that Ukraine "will avail itself of all the advantages offered by the Championship". He wished "a great success" to Ukraine and Poland in its organization. According to the President of the Swiss Council of States, "Ukraine will gain more recognition in the world".
V.Lytvyn and A.Berset also discussed the situation with the flu epidemic. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the international community for assisting Ukraine in the epidemic overcoming.
On a request of A.Berset, V.Lytvyn briefed on the development of election campaign in Ukraine and the role of Parliament in it, stressing the necessity of "holding a civilized dialogue concerning further development of Ukraine".
