Ukrainians are concerned with the observance of law order in the country, housing matters and social security.
The study of the citizens´ appeal received by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during January-September 2009 confirms the above-mentioned statement.
According to the Citizens´ Appeals Office of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate, the Parliament has received 68,9 thousand citizens´ appeals since the beginning of the year, which is 3,2 thousand more than had been received for a relevant period of the previous year.
The Parliamentary committees received 15,6 thousand appeals, motions and complaints.
Citizens raised 70,8 thousand matters. The issues concern observance of law order, realization of citizens rights and liberties (36,8%), social security (15,3%), financial, taxation and customs policy (8,2%), housing policy (5,3 %), activity of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (5,2%), utility services (4,2%), labour and wages (3,4 %), agrarian policy and land relations (3,2%).
More than 26 thousand appeals concerning observance of law order, constitutional rights and liberties of the citizens have been received since the beginning of the year.
Despite the reduced number of citizens´ appeals concerning employment and wages, the matter has not lost its topicality. 2,4 thousand relevant appeals and motions have been received by the Parliament during January-September.
As it was stressed by the Citizens´ Appeals Office of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate, all the received proposals, motions and complaints have been scrutinized pursuant with the effective legislation, the ones non-appertaining to the Parliament´s authorities being forwarded to the corresponding public authority and local self-government bodies, prosecution and court. The topical matters have been scrutinized at the Parliamentary committees and deputy factions.
5,4 thousand citizens were personally received at the Parliament during January-September 2009.
According to the information rendered by the secretariats of the deputy factions, 276,8 thousand electors have addressed the People´s Deputies and their assistants in the electoral districts during nine months. They scrutinized 111,9 thousand written appeals, held 27,7 thousand personal receptions and 69,6 thousand meetings with the electors.
