Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, doubts whether the Personnel Issues will be fully scrutinized
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, admits that a full-fledged scrutiny of the personnel issues is not certain.
He made the above-mentioned statement in the interview to "Silski Visti" newspaper, answering the question concerning possible positive settlement of the personnel matters after the Foreign Affairs Minister had been appointed.
V.Lytvyn believes that consideration of new appointments shall be preceded by fifteen draft resolutions on the dismissal of certain ministers. At the sitting of the Conciliative Council of the factions leaders, he made a joke that it would have been easier to bring forward the draft resolution on dismissal of the Prime Minister, "as the issue concerning dismissal of non-favoured ministers would be immediately settled".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine disapproves of the influence of the politics on the settlement of the personnel issues. Thus, he cited an example of Mykhailo Zhurovsky, a nominee to the office of rector of Kyiv Polytechnic University, whom he considers a professional and an optimum candidate to the office of the Vice-Prime Minister for Humanitarian Matters. However, the Head of the Parliament believes that this appointment will be hampered by the rector´s declaration of support of Yu.Tymoshenko at the presidential elections, his candidacy being blocked. "Making declarations of such a scope, one should bear in mind possible consequences. As the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada, I do not need extra reasons for the blocking of the parliamentary lectern", - stressed V.Lytvyn.
