The Bill (Reg. No. 4839) enhances legal principles of organization and activity of the Security Service of Ukraine, and substitutes the basic Law "On the Security Service of Ukraine" adopted in 1992. One of the authors of the Bill stressed that a number of regulations of the effective Law duplicated and failed to comply with other legislative acts, did not take into account the modern requirements concerning provision of State security and civil control in the said field.
The Committee members believe that elaboration of a new Law on the Security Service is topical. However, the Committee members expressed a number of remarks.
Thus, the People´s Deputies deem necessary to delineate the authorities of the Security Service of Ukraine and other law-enforcement bodies concerning corruption fighting, introducing relevant amendments and supplements to the legislative acts of Ukraine, especially the Law "On fighting Corruption".
