On Monday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, attended the opening of the 14th annual conference and general meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors. Delegates from more than 70 countries arrived to the conference in Kyiv.
V.Lytvyn stated that "holding of such an event in Kyiv testifies of the fact that Ukraine participates in the global processes, as well as of our common interest in the accession of the post-Soviet states into the global processes".
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed that the meeting would be of relevance owing to the present-day situation in the world. The global crisis testifies that "creative potential of the world development has been exhausted". Therefore, it is necessary to look for the new principles and new approaches to the organization of life. "It sets new requirements for all the governmental institutions, including the prosecution bodies", - underscored V.Lytvyn.
According to V.Lytvyn, one should find a way to unite the laws, human rights and moral principles of organization of the human community.
V.Lytvyn deems necessary to meet the challenges of a new millennium. "Under the said conditions, discussion, exchange of opinions, development of common guidelines is of crucial importance", - stated V.Lytvyn. He stressed that under the conditions of globalization, the world had to adapt a new quality to make every individual feel confident, as well as to let the State and its institutes fulfill its commitments properly".
