On Saturday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, attended the grand meeting dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Donetsk.
V.Lytvyn sent his greetings to the residents of Donetsk on the occasion of the City Day and the Miner´s Day.
"Today I want to express special gratitude to the generations of people who built this beautiful city, protected and restored it, and exerted every effort for us to be proud for Donetsk, - stated V.Lytvyn. I believe that Donbas means for Ukraine the same as the United States mean for the world as to the amount, influence, authority and power".
V.Lytvyn is certain that "Donbas will make a great contribution to Ukraine" due to the tremendous capabilities of the region, intellect, experience, knowledge and tolerance of its residents.
V.Lytvyn presented the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine awards to the educators, representatives of various branches of the national economy and scientific-technical branches.
The mayor of Donetsk presented a symbolic key to the city to V.Lytvyn.
