Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine: There should be Universal Scholl textbook on the History of Ukraine in the Country, compiled by the Scientists of the National Academy of Science of Ukraine
Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within the working visit to Zaporizhia Region on the 20th of July 2009, in the course of the press-conference giving the answers to the questions of the journalists informed on his point of view regarding the school textbook in Ukraine.
In particular he stressed that he is "sharply against the fact when the vision of the past according to that or another politician or state official is imposed towards the whole country and the whole country is forced to interpret the historical events in this or that way".
The Leader of the Ukrainian Parliament shares the views and the attitudes of the President of Ukraine concerning this matter.
V. Lytvyn deems that in Ukraine should be universal school textbook on the History of Ukraine and it should be compiled by the scientists of the Ukrainian Academy of Science. According to him "it should provide stable forms and evaluations and raise the sense of national dignity and patriotism".
He informed journalists that he had elaborated the textbook on History of Ukraine for the students of historical specialties and history teachers: "the three editions are published already and the fourth one would appear next year". "It is important but one should have real talent to write for children it is not only knowledge but the ability to imagine the child´s conception of the world as well".
