Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems the Introduction of the Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine until the President´s Elections scarcely probable

Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has met Mr. Pavol Hamzik the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Slovak Republic to Ukraine.

During the meeting the Parties have discussed the further course of Ukrainian-Slovak relations.

P. Hamzik reminded that Embassy of Slovak Republic in Ukraine is functioning as Contact Embassy of NATO and expressed interest in cooperation between Ukraine and Slovak Republic. Concerning the geopolitical development of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared that "there are no discrepancies regarding the European decision but there is no intense work as well".

He deems that "we must cooperate with NATO organizations but should not talk about final point of destination as it splits the country when we need consolidation, consolidation of Ukrainian nation and people".

Ambassador also declared that his country was also searching for new forms of cooperation under the conditions of the world economic crisis and would make everything possible in order the last year situation with gas transferring to European countries should not repeat.

On his part, Volodymyr Lytvyn explained that the mentioned situation with gas transferring appeared "as a result of the clarity lack in this sphere and polarization of the issue that remains not less sharp then it used to be", - he emphasized.

According to V. Lytvyn in the period when the country entered the active phase of the president´s elections, it is the Parliament that should keep the situation under control.

V. Lytvyn expressed for the strengthening of the cooperation between Ukraine and Slovak republic on the level of interparliamentary structures, committees in foreign policy and matters of safety and European integration as well.

Speaking about the situation around the introduction of the amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada declared that "until the President´s elections they are impossible". According to him "first of all one should determine the road map that would form the image of Ukrainian development for the world".

"Vulnerable spot" of the country, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called "revolution disrespect of the law". V. Lytvyn stressed that "Ukrainian Constitution is not assembled in the system of power it is not complied". According to him it can be explained by the lack of the political culture in the society, consequently it is scarcely probable that new Constitutions would be complied.
