V.M.Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deems necessary to conclude the Demarcation of Borders between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus
V.M.Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deems necessary to conclude the demarcation of borders between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus. The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament made the above-mentioned statement, speaking with the journalists after the meeting with Boris Batura, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.
V.Lytvyn believes that non-settlement of the said issue "delays the settlement of other, equally important, problems and issues both in Ukraine, and in Belarus". The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reminded of the fact that The Verkhovna Rada had ratified the Agreement concerning demarcation of Ukrainian-Belarusian border in 1997, but the Belarusian parliament had not ratified the document yet.
On his part, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus stated that the relevant documents concerning the said issue would be ratified in the nearest time.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also stated that The Verkhovna Rada would exert every effort to lift the restrictions in the trade-economic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.
The participants of the meeting believe that the Inter-Governmental Ukrainian-Belarusian Commission in charge of Trade-Economic Cooperation is an important tool in the extension of bilateral commodity circulation. They upheld the decision concerning participation of the representatives of the Parliaments of both countries in the Commission.
