Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has taken Part in Celebrations on the occasion of the 358th Anniversary of the Battle near Berestechko (Volyn Region), where the Liturgy and Ecumenical Memorial Requiem for the perished cossacks and village inhabitants were held.
Taking the floor before the participants of the celebration, V. Lytvyn emphasized that the battle field near Berestechko is "the evident of our victory that helps us to reconsider our past". According to V. Lytvyn "we should remember the defeats but hope account only on the victory". "Berestechko battle should teach Ukrainian people to believe in their power, consideration only of the victories and do not betray the faith and Motherland", - he declared.
V. Lytvyn stressed on the importance "of being conscious of our basic national values: unity, love to the Native Land, coordinated, responsible event to self-sacrifice actions in the interests of Ukraine and Ukrainian Nation". According to him it is exactly of great importance today "when someone is trying to convince us that we are of low value, that we can not be the country forming nation, that we can not be one state". "Today Ukraine suffers probably the hardest period during the years of independence, - V. Lytvyn announced. We should bear the lesson that struggle for the power in the path to be brought to the bay".
Volodymyr Lytvyn is convinced that today it is of great importance that "the President, Government, all the political power should declared what is happening in the country and why it is happening in the state and what is important even more is that what should be done and who is going to do it".
