Mykola Tomenko: Law-Enforcement Bodies should secure Implementation of Ukrainian Laws in Zakarpattia Region
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, forwarded an appeal to the General Prosecution and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a request to secure implementation of Ukrainian laws in Zakarpattia region.
M.Tomenko reminds of the fact that on 17 June 2009, Zakarpattia regional territorial electoral panel passed a resolution "On recognizing Deputies of Zakarpattia Regional Council as elected". Pursuant to the said resolution, 14 candidates included in the electoral list of the election block of political parties "Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc" were recognized as elected instead of the deputies who were recalled and whose authorities were early terminated. The resolution was endorsed by 16 members of the panel.
However, on 18 June the representatives of local executive authorities started to put pressure on and intimidate the members of the electoral panel in order to make them revise the resolution adopted.
M.Tomenko forwarded an appeal to the law enforcement bodies with a request to settle the situation and secure implementation of Ukrainian laws in Zakarpattia region.
