The Law enhances criminal legislation of Ukraine and legislation of administrative infringements of individuals in the field of corruption counteraction.
Pursuant to the Law, "abuse of authorities, i.e. deliberate abuse for the sake of obtaining illegitimate benefit for oneself or other individuals, use of private law by an employee of a legal entity irregardless of its organizational-legal form, exertion of the authorities contrary to the interests of a legal entity, provided it inflicted harm to the legally protected rights and interests of certain citizens, legal entities, interests of the society or the State, is punished by a penalty in the amount of 150-400 non-taxable citizens´ income or correction works for up to 1 year, or imprisonment for up to two years, or deprivation of the right to hold certain offices or engage in a certain type of activity for two years".
