On the Occasion of the International Children´s Day
It is already a good tradition to celebrate the International Children´s Day on the first day of summer. It is symbolic that the holiday was established in autumn, in November 1949 by the resolution of the International Women´s Democratic Federation.
All adults are children in their past, and we all descend from our childhood. And everyone has one´s own understanding of this holiday depending on one´s own experience and present-day situation.
However, regardless of the understanding and approaches to the holiday, the comprehension of the fact that it is protection of a special subculture of human life is unanimous.
The attitude towards this subculture does not only reflect the actual state of society, but also demonstrates its philosophy of existence.
It goes without saying that it is much simpler (and more usual) to ignore the deep sense of the problem, having ascertained the age peculiarities of a small human being, declared one´s devotion to the humanistic principles and willingness to observe and respect children´s rights.
However, it is much more complicated to put it in practice. It is even more complicated to fulfill the most important, noble and fair thing on the Earth to make children happy.
The distinctive peculiarity of childhood is the discovery and perception of the world. In this period of life, a child forms its own way of life and outlook on the basis of its personal impressions and examples of the adults. This is the period of special information purity, primary experience that will later transform into the essence of consciousness. This is the period of harmonization or destruction of relations with the world.
However, hardly anyone reflects upon the fact that it is in this period of life that the essential unity of generations is accomplished.
The lack of love and confidence in this process may cause the violation of natural rhythm, deviation from a traditional way of development, and, finally, failure in the mental code.
Alienation at the personal level that may occur between the world of childhood and adulthood in this period is more dangerous than a simple conflict misunderstanding of generations, since it concerns depreciation of dignity.
Therefore, while talking about children´s protection, one should not only understand it, but also exert every effort to promote development and socialization of a personality.
It is necessary to remember that the adults are responsible for the state of the world which the child is entering, having left its age subculture.
We all become orphans in the course of time. However, the orphanage may be different. Unfortunately, in the present-day situation a considerable part of the whole generation consists of orphans without parents, orphans without the State.
But is it such an overwhelming task for the society, for every citizen to protect the childhood: not to spoil it by the lack of attention, not to spare a piece of one´s heart?!
"Spare the tears of your children, for them to be able to shed them on your grave", - noticed the essence of these relations one ancient man of wisdom.
The discovery of a human being and the Motherland will definitely become the first, the strongest and the most precious perception for a small personality. And maybe one should talk only about this potential discovery of every child on the day of its protection.
