Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deems necessary to extend the Autonomous Status of Crimea as regards its Economic Independence and Responsibility in order to reveal the Potential of the Area

 

Staying in Crimea on Wednesday, 29 April, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that the autonomous status of Crimea "should be extended as regards its economic independence and responsibility". "The rumours concerning possible abolition of the autonomous status are political provocation", - he underscored.

   

According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in the situation "when different departments are not able to reach a common standpoint even in the issue concerning water supply of Crimea", it is necessary to restore order in the economic and social fields. "It is necessary to cease political confrontations, mutual exclusions from the parties, and launch practical activity. The potential of Crimea is to be revealed", - he stated.

 

To achieve the results stated, it is required to elaborate a relevant action plan and secure its realization.

 

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supports the idea concerning creation of a free economic zone in Crimea, which he announced at the press conference. "Crimea is apparently in need of a free trade zone concerning recreation and development of tourism", - he stated.
