The Members of the Committee scrutinized the Bills of the Resolutions that envisasge the possible dates of the President Elections. The Bill (Reg.№3655) presented by the People´s Deputy A. Shevchenko envisages the date of Elections on 27th of December 2009.
The author of the Bill G. Moskal stressed that the at the moment of the Election of the current President the principle of the Main Law according to which the president´s elections are held on the last Sunday of the October of the 5th year of his authority was legitimate. According to him the Elections should be held on 25th of October 2009.
The members of the Committee declared that according to the article 85 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the elections should be held on last Sunday of the last month of the 5th year of the Presidents authority.
The Chairman of the Committee, O. Omelchenko informed the participants of the meeting on the fact that during the Meeting of the Leaders of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the Chairmen of the Deputies Committees the decision was reached to held the elections of the President of Ukraine on 17th of January 2010 and that the Bill of the Resolution agreed should be supplied for the Parliament´s scrutinizing.
Consequently, the Committee adopts the decision to recommend the Parliament reject the suggested Bills.
