Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is concerned with the situation that originated due to the Decree of Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, of 10 February 2009 "The Matters of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine".
At the request of the President of the National Academy of Sciences, V.Lytvyn forwarded the letter to V.Yushchenko from Borys Paton and the presidents of branch academies of sciences.
V.Lytvyn stresses that adoption of resolution concerning the Academy of Legal Sciences "is substantiated and motivated, which requires understanding".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to adhere to the systematic decisions to settle the problems of national science that require a balanced attitude.
The letter to the President of Ukraine states that the issue of the Decree "The Matters of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine" provoked serious concern of the scientific personnel of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and all academic community, as the Decree "fails to comply with effective legislation and self-governing principles of academic science".
