On Tuesday, within the scope of the working visit to Brussels, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Javier Solana, Secretary General of the EU Council, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the meeting was mostly dedicated to the discussion of the political situation in Ukraine. "I can declare: the EU is even more concerned with the negative processes in Ukraine at the level of the high-ranking officials, than Ukrainian politicians themselves", - stated V.Lytvyn.
Due to V.Lytvyn, in the course of the conversation with the Secretary General of the EU Council, he was ascertained that European institutions carefully observed the processes in Ukraine.
"The key-note of the conversation: Ukraine is in need of political peace, understanding between main political players, activity aimed at overcoming of crisis and implementation of the necessary reforms till January 2010", - summarized the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
As far as the aim of the visit of Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to Brussels is concerned, V.Lytvyn stated that the deputies are willing to inform the leaders of the European institutions about the fact that "Ukrainian parliament is operating, and has suspended the growth of political crisis by the actions taken". The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that the Parliament "will become a center of socio-political, economic life and a foundation of the stability in Ukraine". "I am convinced that despite political divergences and different political stands of parliamentary Factions, The Verkhovna Rada will understand and fulfill its mission", - he stated.
As it was reported earlier, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stays on a working visit in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium) on 10-11 February.
