Mykola Tomenko: The Verkhovna Rada is obliged to work until the budget for the next year is adopted.
Mykola Tomenko stated that those political forces that are trying to disrupt scrutiny of the Draft State Budget-2009 should return their tickets and tourist vouchers for New Year´s holidays, since The Verkhovna Rada is obliged to work until the budget for the next year is adopted.
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that the procedure of scrutinizing the State Budget is an annual parliamentary tradition. In contracts to the former practice when the State Budget was adopted together with the amendments to the tax legislation, the Coalition recommends that the Draft Budget-2009 and a set of Bills that secure its balance be scrutinized separately. Their common adoption is envisaged only at the final reading.
