The International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks is a unified means of international classification of documents, and an effective instrument to be used by departments and applicants during the search for recognition of differential capacity of a trademark. The People´s Deputies underscored that the said Classification was of exclusively administrative character, and did not determine obligations of the Special Union member-countries regarding character and scope of legal protection of trademarks.
The participating countries obtain a possibility to become members of relevant assemblies and committees in charge of revision and improvement of the Classification. Participating in the improvement of the Classification, each country can protect its economic and political interests.
The Committee members stressed that "Ukraine´s accession to the said Agreement will render an opportunity to influence the process of enhancement of the International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks, and become a full-fledged member of the system of international community founded by the Agreement".
