Pursuant to the Bill (Reg. No.3301), annual tariff quota on import of crude cane sugar in Ukraine is increased to 263 900 tons in 2009, and to 267 800 in 2010.
The Committee members stated that "the legislative motion was elaborated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in order to fulfill commitments of Ukraine reached within the scope of negotiations concerning Ukraine´s accession to the WTO".
The Committee members believe that the Government should introduce amendments to the Law "On Foreign Economic Activity" that defines the concept of "quota", supplementing it with the term "tariff quota". The People´s Deputies suppose that "the said motion will allow the Government to apply the regulation in question in accordance with the commitments stipulated by international agreements".
