The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster recommends that the Parliament adopts as a Basis the Bill on Amendments and Supplements to the Law "On the State System of Biological Safety by Creation, Probation, Transportation and Use of Genetically Modified Organisms" (re Improvement of certain Regulations)

The Bill (Reg. No.3037) enhances the system of administration in the field of genetic engineering activity and offers the mechanism of State regulation appertaining to the safe treatment of genetically modified organisms.

Thus, pursuant to the Bill, a relevant specially authorized body, the National Commission in charge of Biological Safety, should be founded under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. The Bill defines the status of the said Commission. Pursuant to the Bill, "products that include, are compiled of or produced from genetically modified organisms should include relevant obligatory marks (notifications)".
