The Parties discussed political situation in Ukraine and possible development of events.
Thus, Hans-Jürgen Heimsoeth stated: "Germany will support Ukraine at all events, though it would be better if Ukrainian parliament members reached a consensus". The Ambassador stated that new early elections to The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "can estrange Ukraine from the NATO and the European Union".
Borys Tarasiuk, Committee Chairman, expressed his opinion concerning citizens´ activity and expected attendance to the possible early elections to the Parliament. He stated that "according to the public opinion polls, 72% of Ukrainian population has a negative attitude towards holding of new early elections, though 65% of citizens is ready to take part in the elections in case they are held".
Moreover, the diplomats discussed prospects of economic development of the Crimean peninsula, international financial crisis and negotiations concerning creation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union.
