Mykola Tomenko: Parliament of the Sixth Convocation will continue its work until the deputies of The Verkhovna Rada of the next convocation take the oath.
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that today´s sitting of The Verkhovna Rada confirmed legitimacy of work of the Parliament of the Sixth Convocation.
«The sitting of The Verkhovna Rada was officially opened and closed after the Decree of the President of Ukraine on termination of authorities of the Parliament of the Sixth Convocation was promulgated. Therefore, it affirms that Ukraine has a legally capable parliament that can adopt resolutions until the People´s Deputies of the seventh convocation assume their authorities", - he stated.
The Vice-Chairman stated that opening and closing of the today´s sitting affirmed that the Parliament acted in compliance with Part 1 of Article 90 of the Constitution of Ukraine, and that its authorities "are terminated on the day the first sitting of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of a new convocation is opened".
«In case it becomes necessary to adopt urgent amendments to the budget or response to the financial or geopolitical situation in the world, the Parliament of the Sixth Convocation will convene at any moment and adopt a relevant resolution", - believes Mykola Tomenko.
