Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Council Ukraine-NATO.

Today Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the members of the Inter-Parliamentary Council Ukraine-NATO. He discussed the issues of Euro-Atlantic cooperation with Jean-François Bureau, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, and Michel Duray, Director of NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine.

Dwelling upon the difficult political situation in Ukraine, Mykola Tomenko appealed to the participants of the meeting with a request to reduce the formal part of the discussion concerning relations between Ukraine and the NATO and focus on more substantial cooperation, i.e. educational, scientific and technological projects of such cooperation.

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine considers the program of cooperation with the NATO appertaining to the re-training of the reserve to be the most topical and effective.

"Effectiveness of relations between Ukraine and the NATO should be assessed not by the number of billboards and commercials, but by the number of effective projects mutually beneficial both for Ukraine, and the members of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance", - stated Mykola Tomenko.
