Mykola Tomenko: Non-voting of the Bloc "Our Ukraine-People´s Self-Defence" for the President´s Bill is either an inconceivable enigma or a political unscrupulousness.
At today´s briefing at the Parliament Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on the results of the meeting of Faction leaders appertaining to the order of today´s voting for antirecessionary Bills. He also stated that the BYuT was ready to scrutinize the Bill "On Immediate Measures to be taken to eliminate Negative Consequences of Financial Crisis in Ukraine", submitted by the President of Ukraine.
Mykola Tomenko stated that the President´s version of the Bill included essential propositions concerning overcoming of economic crisis, introduced by the Government, the majority of parliamentary Factions and the People´s Deputies.
"It is a great surprise that the pro-presidential party opposed immediate scrutiny of the President´s antirecessionary Bill. Two explanations are possible: either "Our Ukraine" was not informed in due time that the President together with experts and his Secretariat had been coordinating the Bill, submitted to the Parliament, "the whole night long", or the President might have instructed his team at the Parliament not to vote for his own Bill. Therefore, position of the Bloc "Our Ukraine-People´s Self-Defence" can be explained as either an inconceivable enigma or a political unscrupulousness", - stated Mykola Tomenko.
Furthermore, he stressed that the Government was ready to withdraw its Bill, and failed to insist on its being put to the vote.
