The Members of the Committee were informed of the Budget inquiry of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Yuruy Yekhanurov. He announced that there should be provided 32,4 mln grn for the development of the Military Forces in the State Budget of Ukraine for the year2009
The Minister of the Defence stated that "the chronic lack of financing for the defence during the existence of the Military Forces has lead to the fact that they can hardly fulfill their duty to protect the country".
Yuruy Yekhanurov has stressed on the fact that the military techniques and the arming of the Ukraine country have reach the ultimate terms of the exploitation. He pointed out that the worst situation is with the Air Forces that are created first of all to protect from the air the objects of the special state importance. Almost two third of the airplanes and helicopters of the Military Forces will fail to take off because of their technical state.
The Minister also announced that the best situation is in the Naval Forces of Ukraine, nevertheless, almost 60% of the airplanes and helicopters of the naval aviation needs renewal.
