Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, held a consultation with David Bakradze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, and Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, concerning peaceful regulation of the situation in the area of conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia.

 

The Parties discussed the situation in the area of conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia.

 

Within the scope of the consultation, A.Yatseniuk appealed to his interlocutors with a request to  apply all efforts in order to prevent hostilities and launch peaceful negotiations aimed at conversion of the conflict settlement to the peaceful process.  

 

"Military servicemen should be debarred from influence on the conflict, and its settlement should depend solely on the work of diplomats and international organizations", - stated the Head of Ukrainian Parliament.

 

In the course of the talks, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his concern with the fact that the situation in South Ossetia was not a local bilateral military conflict, but constituted a serious threat to the global security.

 

"We can no longer regard the said conflict as frozen. In the course of the said conflict the houses are burnt, peaceful population is bombarded, economic foundations of the regional development are being undermined, and the blood is shed. This should be stopped immediately", - emphasized Arseniy Yatseniuk.

 

Consultation of Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, with David Bakradze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, and Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, was efficient, and was held in the atmosphere of mutual understanding.

 

On Monday, the Head of Ukrainian Parliament is to hold a telephone talk with Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
